An island defined by its cliffs and its character. Södermalm sits at the heart of Stockholm, its bedrock plateau rising sharply from the water on nearly every side, the same glacially carved topography that shapes the rest of the city, here compressed into a single dense island. At 1:15,000, the subject is not nature but the city built on top of it: every street, block, courtyard and waterfront is present in the relief.

Up close the urban grain is fully readable , the tight 19th century street grid of Mariatorget and Hornstull, the rocky western end around Långholmen, the denser build-up toward Medborgarplatsen. The surrounding water, Riddarfjärden to the north, Hammarby Sjö to the east is rendered in the bathymetric poster, with the rest of Stockholm's islands visible in black around the frame.

Produced from digital elevation data, combining a 2D bathymetric poster with hand-assembled relief on a rigid 3mm board.
